Football manager 09 - Woking

As I am preparing to hand in my CV to Woking for the third time I thought it best to catch up on my FM09 skills. I remembered why I stopped because we had such terrible injury crisis and we were about to play 2nd in the table. I lined up with my favorite 4-1-3-2 formation but with Right winger Chris Palmer wildly out of postion but I had no choice.

Only Tom Hutchinson and Danny Bunce remain from my orginal team. I got to league 2 in my first season. I had 9 first team players out for my game against Port Vale and 6 of those 9 would be in my best 11.

Anyway playing Port Vale we were not favorite to win and went behind early after early pressure. I couldn't change it. The players on the bench wern't fit enough to play and the only changes I could make were defensive so I could only hope to nick a goal. Then Stuart Thurgood got injured again so I was left with having to put Danny Bunce in midfield.

Second half Tim Sills scored a great goal to equalize and we had a real chance of a point against the odds. Centre Mid Jimmy Ryan couldn't last any longer so he had to go off and I was forced into big changes.

To give me any chance I took off Sills and put on Domoraund for the last 10mins and went long ball and agressive. Port Vale played a high line and Domoraund missed two great chances, hitting the post with one of them. The game finished 1-1 but I could have won it in the end.

Just to deepen my injury problem Stuart Thurgood broke his leg in the Port Vale game and is out for 5-6 months. As far as the league table goes I am doing pretty well. 18th and not much danger of relegation. Next season I aiming for top half.

Next game I lost 2-0 away at Barnet. We didn't have a shot on target and played badly. I've spent the budget and players aren't on the way back for another 2 months. The only positive was Matt Pattison's return. I am so desperate for players I am going to have to recall Lummers from Hayes and Yeading.
